Stevens Family Room

The dresser, empire with scroll feet and column; has a deep drawer extending over the lower drawers. It was given by Mrs. Annie Lee Simpson, Lumpkin.

The pegged bed, handmade, perhaps in Stewart County, belonged to Mr. Swift Canington and was given to the Inn by Mr. and Mrs. Wyatt Pittman of Benevolence, Georgia. It has spool and posts and spindles, headboard and footboard, and is walnut.

The coverlet is hand-woven, dated 1845. It was given by Mrs. John Perrin of Miami, Florida.

The rocker is the gift of Mrs. Ernst Rust, Columbus, Georgia. She thinks it may have been in the Governor’s mansion when Milledgeville was the capital of Georgia.

The empire mirror over the dresser was given to the Inn by Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Harvey of Americus, Georgia.

The empire shaving stand has a marble top on a slim round column.

The cricket type footstool is on loan from Mrs. Mary Burns, Columbus, Georgia.

The brushes on top of the dresser were given by the Coffin family.

The Chamber pot is on loan from Patsy Jones of Lumpkin.
